Drive Shack Richmond is not subtle. Located about 20 minutes from downtown, it’s a three-story entertainment venue with 60 all-weather TrackMan bays, full-service restaurants and bars on every floor, a rooftop terrace, and The Puttery — an 18-hole immersive mini-golf course built into the same building. It works whether you care about golf or not.
The Tech: TrackMan Bays
All 60 bays run TrackMan — the same launch monitor technology used by Tour players for club fitting and serious practice. In the Drive Shack context, it’s layered with a suite of game modes: closest to the pin, virtual course rounds, skill challenges, and more. The ball tracking is accurate and the screen experience is polished.
Pricing runs roughly $25–$50 per bay per hour depending on day and time, with Half Price Wednesdays available all day every week. Each bay holds up to 6 players, so split four or five ways the per-person cost becomes very reasonable. The bays to have clubs available if you don’t have your own clubs. It’s a fun experience, but somewhat pricey. The beverage and food options are better than x-golf, but it comes at a premium. The bays are open to the outside, but there are heaters and fans around each bay to try and keep mother nature in check while you play.
The Puttery
Drive Shack’s 18-hole immersive mini-golf course is a legitimate draw on its own. The holes are themed and fully designed — not a standard mini-golf setup. It’s a natural complement to bay play for group outings, and gives non-golfers in the group something engaging to do while everyone else hits.
Food & Beverage
Chef-inspired menus, full-service bars on every floor, and a rooftop bar with outdoor terrace seating. Food quality tends to get consistently positive reviews — it punches above what you’d expect from an entertainment venue. The rooftop is especially good in spring and fall weather.
Events
Drive Shack is well-configured for large groups: grand meeting spaces, event coordination, and multi-floor capacity for corporate events, rehearsal dinners, and parties. Active military, veterans, and first responders get 10% off bay play, food, and non-alcoholic beverages at every location.
The Verdict
Drive Shack is the right choice when golf is one part of the plan rather than the whole plan. The TrackMan bays are serious enough for golfers to enjoy, but the overall experience is designed for groups and occasions. Focused practice golfers might prefer X-Golf or Back Nine for a quieter environment — but for a group evening or a corporate outing, Drive Shack is the strongest option in Richmond.
