What is the SkyTrak+?
The SkyTrak+ is the second-generation version of the original SkyTrak launch monitor. Setup and hardware
Out of the box, the SkyTrak+ setup process takes under 15 minutes. The unit connects to your home WiFi network and pairs with the SkyTrak app on iOS, Android, or PC. This is a known characteristic of the technology, not a flaw specific to SkyTrak. For the vast majority of shots in a practice session, the data is accurate and actionable.
Club data
The rear-facing club camera reliably captures club speed, face angle, and club path. The data is accurate enough to meaningfully inform swing corrections — knowing whether your face is open or closed at impact, or how dramatically you’re coming over the top, is genuinely useful practice feedback.
Software ecosystem
Software compatibility is one of the SkyTrak+‘s clearest advantages. It works with more simulation platforms than any other launch monitor in its price range.
One caveat worth flagging: SkyTrak has increasingly steered new customers toward its own Course Play software rather than these third-party integrations, and existing subscribers are largely grandfathered in under the Essentials membership tier. Even at that original price, that wasn’t the full picture. To use the device beyond basic ball flight data, you need a subscription. Here’s what the tiers look like and what they cost over time:
Game Improvement Plan (~$99.99/year): Basic ball flight data, practice ranges, and skills challenges. No full course play. Good for fitting and practice use only.
Play & Improve Plan (~$199.99/year): Adds WGT courses and online play. This is the minimum tier most buyers will want for a full simulator experience.
Tour Level Plan (~$299.99/year): Full course library, video features, and advanced analytics. Required for the complete SkyTrak software experience.
Over five years at the Play & Improve tier, that’s roughly $1,000 in subscriptions on top of the $2,995 hardware — a total of ~$4,000. At Tour Level, closer to $4,500. That still undercuts the Foresight GC3 at $6,999 hardware alone (before any subscription), but it’s meaningfully more than the Garmin R10 at $599 with no required subscription.
