Hey, I’m Scott — and I’ve been down the rabbit hole so you don’t have to.
A few years ago I decided I wanted to play golf year-round without leaving my house. Simple enough idea, right?
What followed was months of confusing spec sheets, contradictory forum posts, YouTube videos that were clearly sponsored without saying so, and a whole lot of money spent figuring out what actually works and what’s just marketing. By the time I had my Garmin R10 dialled in — enclosure sorted, mat right, projector calibrated, software running smoothly — I’d learned more about home simulator setups than I ever expected to.
That’s where GolfSimGenius came from.
I figured if I’d spent that much time piecing it all together, plenty of other golfers were going through the same frustrating process. So I built the site I wish had existed when I started.
What We Do Here
GolfSimGenius is focused on one thing: helping you make the right simulator purchase decision, the first time.
That means honest, hands-on reviews that don’t just regurgitate manufacturer specs. It means comparison guides that actually help you understand the trade-offs. And it means buying guides written by someone who’s been through the process personally — not a content farm that’s never touched a launch monitor.
Every piece of content on this site asks the same question: would this genuinely help someone make a better decision? If the answer is no, it doesn’t go up.
A Bit About Me
I’m an avid golfer based in the United States. Golf has been part of my life for years, and like a lot of recreational players, I’m always looking for ways to improve without sacrificing all the time it takes to get to a course.
Home simulator tech has come a long way. What used to cost tens of thousands of dollars and require a dedicated commercial space is now genuinely accessible to regular golfers with a spare room, a garage, or even a basement. The Garmin R10 I run is proof of that — solid data, left- and right-hand friendly, and it works with serious software like GSPro and E6 Connect.
I’m not a professional golfer or a launch monitor engineer. What I am is someone who has researched this stuff obsessively, spent real money on real equipment, and learned what matters through trial and error. That’s the perspective I bring to every review.
How We Make Money
GolfSimGenius uses affiliate links — primarily through the Amazon Associates program. If you click a link on this site and buy something, I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.
I want to be upfront about this because it matters. Affiliate income is what keeps this site running and the content free. But it also means I have a responsibility to be honest — recommending a bad product just to earn a commission would defeat the entire purpose of building this.
My rule is simple: I only recommend products I’d genuinely point a friend toward. If something isn’t worth your money, I’ll say so. You can read more in my full Affiliate Disclosure.
